Licensees are being given a unique opportunity to sell a cask ale named after their local heroes in a Waverley TBS and Proud of Pubs initiative. The pubs judged to be celebrating the greatest local heroes will get a free supply of the beer, brewed by one of nine regional brewers. Every stockist of Local Hero Beer, on sale from April to September, will receive a specially designed pump clip to celebrate a favourite customer, pub team or local character. And with the initiative aiming to highlight the pubs place at the heart of its community, participating pubs will also receive a free PR pack offering tips to promote their beer in the local press. Gordon Johncox, managing director for WaverleyTBS, said: We want to support our customers with a unique proposition that only WaverleyTBS can bring to market: a bespoke beer for individual pubs, from a regional brewer on a UK-wide basis. Were hoping the idea will drive positive press coverage and additional footfall for our customers. I can see beers being named after the oldest regular, the league-winning pub team or even celebrating local landmarks. The possibilities are endless! Stockists will be able to take part by ordering at least one nine gallon container of the beer. The pubs judged to have the greatest local heroes will each receive nine gallons of Local Hero Beer, as well as being profiled in The Publican. Anyone can order Local Hero Beer via any one of the WaverleyTBS depots. Go to www.waverleytbs.co.uk to find your local depot. Local Hero brewersThe eight regional brewers who will be brewing Local Hero Beer for pubs in their regions are: Greene King, Harviestoun, Newmans, Skinners, Thwaites, Titanic, Wadworth and Wells & Youngs. |
