Halloween recipe: Graveyard Goulash

A special occasion recipe from Maggi
Graveyard Goulash
Makes 10 portions
Ingredients
- 3tbsp olive oil
- 400g (14oz) sliced onions
- 2kg (4lb 8oz) cubed lean beef
- 3tbsp paprika
- 2tsp caraway seeds
- 1.6kg (3lb 8oz) Maggi Multi-Use Tomato Sauce with Peppers
- 10g (¼oz) Maggi Beef Bouillon Paste
- 250ml (9fl oz) water
- a small handful of freshly chopped parsley
To serve
- pasta noodles
- soured cream
- paprika
Method
Heat the oil in a large pan and sauté the onions until beginning to soften. Add the beef and cook until browned. Stir in the paprika and caraway and cook for two minutes, stirring. Add the tomato sauce, bouillon paste and water, stir well, cover and simmer for 1½ -2 hours until the meat is tender.
Serve with cooked pasta, a spoonful of soured cream and a sprinkle of paprika.
Hints and Tips
- Why not try this recipe using lean diced pork to replace the beef.
- In Hungary, goulash is often served with either pasta noodles or with large dumplings.
