Boris Johnson, the TV personality and Tory MP, is the latest celebrity to be snapped showing his support for The Publican's Proud of Pubs campaign with a campaign badge.
At the time of going to press 85 MPs from across the House of Commons had put their names to the Proud of Pubs motion. The motion, which calls on members to show their support for pubs and the Proud of Pubs campaign, was tabled by Labour MP John Grogan in May to mark the first six months of the new Licensing Act.
Among the latest high-profile signatories to put their names to the motion are Nick Brown, the former Agriculture Secretary, and Jo Swinson, the Liberal Democrat Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland.
The campaign is now linking up with leading online consumer pub directory the Pub Inn Guide. All licensees who commit to trading responsibly by signing The Publican’s Proud of Pubs Charter will now get a discounted entry on the site.
Director James Nash said: “Pubs are the hub of the country. They should be left alone to do what they do best in their communities, rather than being dictated to.
“This why the Pub Inn Guide is so keen to back the Proud of Pubs campaign.”
