New survey says 61 per cent are against a smoking ban outside pubs
Almost nine out of 10 Scots believe the current smoking ban has gone far enough, according to a new poll.
The research conducted by Populus for smokers’ lobby group FOREST showed that 87 per cent of the Scottish public were opposed to any further restrictions.
It also revealed that a majority were also against a ban on smoking outside pub and clubs (61 per cent), on beaches (61 per cent) and places of work (61 per cent).
The ban on smoking in public places, which includes pubs, was introduced in March.
Forest spokesman Neil Rafferty said: “Where smoking is concerned, the Scottish public clearly believe that enough is enough.
“Smokers may seem an easy target but they are voters too and a large number are sick and tired of being lectured and treated like lepers.”

Tom This is about more than the pub trade or smoking in general. With 7 Bingo Halls having closed and pensioners now preferring to stay at home rather than visit their lunch clubs there is now feelings of isolation in what was once a proud nation.
The smokers lobby group FOREST are funded by the tobacco industry, this poll is like asking the tobacco industry if there should be a smoking ban?
