Rockers release song about sparking up after the smoking ban
Legendary 60s rockers The Pretty Things are sending out a rallying cry to smokers opposed to the ban by releasing a single called All Light Up.
The band, one of the pioneers of rock ‘n’ roll and a major influence on the Rolling Stones, are putting out the song to coincide with the start of the ban in England.
The breezy sing-a-long anthem urges smokers everywhere to defy the ban and spark up.
Lead singer Phil May said: “There has been a creeping interference in our private lives over the last 10 years by the government and I’m upset that people seem to have accepted this latest piece of legislation.”
May said that pubs should be allowed to permit smoking as long as there was ventilation. But he added: “This song’s not just about smoking, it’s about people being allowed to live their life how they want to.”
The song is already available to download at www.myspace.com/alllightup and will be available to download from iTunes this week.

Good for them, I will be downloading it. I will not pay to stand outside a pub like a second hand customer. Its time this government learnt to stop interferring in peoples private lives. The right of whether smoking takes place on the premises belongs to the owner and no one else.
