Poker world record broken

18 September, 2008

Player succeeds in record attempt but will keep going until midnight

A poker player has entered the record books after playing non-stop for more than 72 hours – and he's still going.

Shortly after 8pm on Wednesday night Dave Cain, broke the record at The Library Bar in Lincoln.

He started playing poker on Sunday and is still playing continuously, hoping to reach 100 straight hours of play.

Dave has shown signs of fatigue and at one point forgot how to play, but he remains confident that he will reach his target time, and succeed in raising £10,000 for local charities.

He aims to finish playing poker at midnight tonight.

The Kurnia Group, which owns The Library, has been keen to support Dave's attempt. Michael Kheng, the company’s director, said: “We are pleased to be hosting the event and are giving Dave all the support we can.”

Anyone wishing to watch Dave’s attempt can do so via four live webcams or by visiting the pub.
