Charity beer to raise money for the blind

Braille Ale and Braille Pale are the first ales specifically produced to raise money for charity
A brewery has teamed up with a charity to produce beers that will raise money for the blind.
The Derbyshire Association for the Blind (DAB) and the Derventio Brewery have created Braille Ale and Braille Pale and all the profits from sales will go to the charity.
DAB’s Robin Toal said: “This is the first of its kind - it’s the first ale specifically produced to raise funds for charity.
“Derventio has been very generous by offering us all of the profits and we hope to be able to raise as much as £4,000.”
The two beers to be rebranded by Derventio are Emperors Whim and Venus. Both will be made available in the brewery’s pubs across Yorkshire.
Robin added: “The beers won’t cost anymore than other ordinary beers, so donating to the charity will not be an additional cost to the customer.”
The labels will also include facts about blindness to raise consumers’ awareness of the problems surrounding the condition, and how a little financial support can make a huge difference.

What a wonderful idea! We should all strive to support such campaigns which offer our customers a different angle when drinking in our pub's. With charities struggling to survive, and our pub's seeing lowered revenues, ideas such as this could offer a new angle for both parties. I look forward to it's arrival.
