Star's songs proving popular on jukeboxes across the country
Pubs across the country have been filled with the music of Michael Jackson following the star’s death last week.
According to Soundnet, which has 10,000 digital jukeboxes across the UK there has been a surge in customers playing Jackson hits.
The company’s own digital download charts for the week show three new Jackson entries in the top 30, with only two days being accounted for in the figures since his death on Thursday.
The most popular tracks are Billie Jean (21) Man in the Mirror (23) and Thriller (26).
Soundnet has responded to the demand by creating a playlist of the most popular Jackson songs that can be downloaded free of charge.
Lee Taylor, music programming manager at Soundnet, said: “We can see from our daily download jukebox chart that Michael Jackson now has 20 of the top 100 plays on digital jukeboxes just since the weekend.
“The trend is getting stronger and stronger and we wanted to ensure that people can find the Michael Jackson tracks on the jukeboxes quickly by creating a special category with our new playlist. This will now appear on the front screen of the jukebox in order to maximise plays and income.”
