Olympic star backing home-reared produce
Former Olympic champion athlete Sally Gunnel is to front a 'buy British’ campaign to encourage pubs and consumers to ask for home-reared chicken from their butcher.
The British Chicken Marketing 2007 campaign will feature the 400m world record holder, who is now an ambassador for health and well-being, and is also the daughter of a poultry farmer.
Sally said: “I’ve got three young sons and try to feed my family a healthy, balanced diet – which includes chicken at least three times a week, as it is low in fat, nutritious and we all love it"
Chicken is the nation’s favourite meat and accounts for more than 40 per cent of the meat consumed in the UK1. However, as a nation we import more chicken every year, £900 million worth in 2005.
BCM’s 2007 campaign will include press advertising and lifestyle imagery, along with Sally endorsing the ‘buy British’ message.
