Shellfish Association creates giant pub starter
Anyone ordering this starter might well be tempted to skip the main course!
The Shellfish Association of Great Britain (SAGB), in association with Royal Greenland, has created the world's largest prawn cocktail.
Constructed in a 1.5m tall champagne glass and using of 50kg of prawns, the equivalent of 550 regular portions, the dish also used a crate of lettuces and more than 10 litres of Marie Rose sauce.
Once completed, the prawn cocktail formed the centrepiece of a buffet for 350 guests at Fishmonger's Hall - but not before photographic evidence of the construction was taken for Guinness World Records accreditation.
The World's largest prawn cocktail was part of an on-going campaign by the SAGB to raise awareness of the health benefits of eating seafood.
No word yet on the world's biggest black forest gateau, but we'll keep you posted..
